Overview

Sometimes it’s not about the number of channels on the desk or the vintage of the microphones. It’s about the people, the material, and the environment.

We stated this before the event and it couldn't be a better description of what actually happened!”

Alan Parsons works in the very best studios in the world and it was our pleasure that the Colorado master class was held in the idyllic setting of Eagle Wind Sound—a destination studio in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains—where a select and smart group off attendees, Alan Parsons, co-writer and singer PJ Olsson, a band, plus featured musician the incredible 'cellist Michael Fitzpatrick, embarked on the recording of a brand new track for Alan’s upcoming album. Well, as it happened, it turned out to be two tracks!

The event took place over three days, August 10/11/12: two days in the studio and one day out in the spectacular Colorado Rockies, boating, BBQ-ing, relaxing... more details coming shortly.

Breaking News...Alan will be reviewing all the Songs and Mixes submitted by Attendees for a peer review in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

The Venue

The Eagle Wind Sound Control Room features a wide-variety of rare and vintage equipment to create the truest sounding records possible. It also features Colorado's only Neve 5088 Shelford Design Recording Console.

Main monitors are Bowers & Wilkins 803D3s and there's a tasty selection of Neve and Universal Audio outboard gear and a top class mic cabinet with plenty of Neumanns and Telefunkens to go around.

Hotels Hotel accommodation is not included in the ticket price as there is a wide range of prices and settings in and around Winter Park and we felt it was best to let Attendees make the choice themselves. If you are traveling in from out of State we'd advise booking from Thursday night so you'll be fresh and ready for the 9.30 AM start on Friday. Here are some neighboring hostelries that have been recommended by the studio:

Vasquez Creek Inn 78786 US Highway 40, Winter Park. (970) 722-1188. Walking distance from the studio. Sundowner Inn 78869 US Hwy 40, Winter Park, CO 80482. (800) 718-5019. No frills but perfectly acceptable and right a cross the street from the studio. Devil’s Thumb Ranch 3530 County Rd 83, Tabernash, CO 80478 (970)-726-7000. Swanky resort 12 miles from the studio.

The Artist

The artist is Alan Parsons himself. The song being recorded is a co-composition written with PJ Olsson, who'll be well known to fans of the Alan Parsons Live Project as its lead singer. The track will appear on a brand new Alan Parsons record due to be completed by the end of 2018. Moose

One of the most dazzling features of the recent Orange County master class (that saw the recording of an instrumental track on Alan's upcoming album) was the contribution from acclaimed 'cellist Michael Fitzpatrick, who the New York Times describes as possessing “A sense of humor, virtuosity, and an ear for musical dialogue. ” We're thrilled that Fitzpatrick, who has graced stages and bills with some of the world's most iconic and influential leaders including his holiness the Dalai Lama, the Pope at The Vatican, and JFK A Vision for America, will be bringing his unique insight into music and life (along with his trusty Gemunder / Injeian ‘Golden Cello’) to the session. Meantime PJ Olsson is an absolute star vocalist in his own right. With Alan at the helm, this will be a meeting of hugely insightful and compassionate minds and to be present at the outcome of such a collaboration is sure to be rock history in the making.
